Communication and counseling skills are crucial for Social Work professionals. As Bachelor courses suffer from lack of lecture time, student workload, teaching resources and training possibilities, counseling education needs a constructive and effective conceptualisation, which targets personal attitudes and values, knowledge-acquisition and practical social skills.
The webinar will deliver insights into a two-semester learning environment on professional communication, negotiation and counseling at the School of Social Work (University of Applied Sciences North Western Switzerland). The course (for 230 students) integrates the educational concept of the adaptive learning environment (Wahl 2013), flipped classroom (Handke 2012, Kück 2014) and social skills training (Hinsch/Pfingsten 2007).
